Our production company specializes in "Living Documentaries," which are shorts and features concerned with immediate topics dealing with living persons. We have multiple projects in stages of pre-production, recording, and post-production. Here are some of our favorites:
Dr. Magnus Agustsson is a fascinating Icelandic physician and sculptor living and working near the waterfront in Kingston, New York. He sculpts beautifully detailed and emotionally evocative statues in many styles, sizes, and themes — from classical works to popular culture icons, literary figures, whimsical subjects, animals, mystical creatures... a seeminly endless array. His work has been featured in New York and Washington D.C. galleries and shows. With his dynamic life history, his staggering range of experiences, and his enlightened wisdom, he also offers philosophical insight into many subjects. We spent several hours over two days with the doctor and his wife Diane (a painter and designer in her own right), documenting their work, their thoughts, and the contents of their fine art gallery. This "extended short" movie is forthcoming by January 2012.
Ellie Caruthers, 84 years old and the wife of the late Herbert "Doc" Caruthers, continues to run the motel her husband built in 1948. It is the oldest motel in Colonial Beach, Virginia, an historic little resort on the Potomac River. One would never presume to guess Ellie's age - she is charming and eloquent, hard-working and resourceful, and loved and appreciated by her many regular guests as well as the locals. She maintains the motel independently, and apart from offering WiFi to her guests, the accomodations are essentially as they would have been many years ago, with plenty of vintage features, including the original neon sign. We met Ellie while sight-seeing, and we couldn't resist the opportunity to document her quaint, authentic establishment, as well as her memories, her love of "Doc," and her commitment to maintain Doc's Motor Court in a traditional manner as long as she lives.
Imagine an exhibition that provides a fresh balance of family-oriented attractions and resources within a conveniently located and scheduled multi-day event. This project is expected to launch in late 2012.
